How to successfully cook mushrooms in the Air Fryer?
- Quickly clean the mushrooms (avoid drowning them, prefer a damp cloth 🍄). Cut off the earthy stem, leave them whole or cut them in 2/4 depending on the size.
- Season with a drizzle of olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder or fresh garlic, and herbs of your choice (parsley, thyme, oregano, etc.). Add a touch of soy sauce to boost the flavor if desired.
- Place in the Air Fryer basket in a single layer (avoid overcrowding). If you're making a lot, do it in two batches for even cooking.
- Start cooking at 180°C for 12 minutes (250g base, whole). Halfway through cooking, open and stir to distribute the heat evenly 🔥.
- Serve hot : your mushrooms are ready when they are golden brown, tender, but still juicy. Sprinkle with parsley or fresh herbs just before serving.
FAQ – Air Fryer Mushrooms
Why choose the Air Fryer for mushrooms?
The Air Fryer allows for quick cooking without adding excessive fat or monitoring. Your mushrooms stay tender, lightly browned, and retain maximum flavor!
Should you peel or wash mushrooms?
No need to peel them! A quick wipe or rinse is all it takes. Too much water = less flavor and texture.
How can I prevent them from giving off too much water?
Spread them out in a single layer, don't overload the bowl, and stir halfway through cooking. You can drain at the end of cooking if necessary, and use the juices for a sauce!
Can we prepare in advance?
Yes! Mushrooms cooked in the Air Fryer can be stored for 2 days in the refrigerator in an airtight container. You can also add them to salads, omelets, gratins, or sandwiches.
Which mushrooms to choose?
Button mushrooms are perfect, but you can vary with brown, portobello, shiitake mushrooms... Just adjust the time if the pieces are larger.
